NJ Atty Suspended After Copping To $1M Mortgage Scheme

Law360, New York (September 4, 2013, 9:39 PM EDT) -- A Red Bank, N.J., attorney who pled guilty in September 2012 to conspiring to steal more than $1 million from lenders in a mortgage scheme was temporarily suspended from practicing law by a New Jersey federal judge on Tuesday after failing to block the suspension. 

Maeble L. Hairston was temporarily suspended from practicing law effective immediately following an order entered Tuesday by U.S. District Court Judge Jerome B. Simandle. According to the order, Hairston failed to appear before Judge Simandle in a hearing scheduled for Aug....
