Texas Justices Asked To Revive $5M Award In Beach RE Row

Law360, Houston (November 5, 2013, 7:44 PM EST) -- A Galveston family asked the Texas Supreme Court Tuesday to reinstate a $5 million judgment they won after a jury found the state had wrongfully laid claim to a private beach the family owns, killing offers from developers lined up to buy the land.

Andrew Mytelka of Greer Herz & Adams LLP, which represents Sonya and Rosemarie Porretto, argued to the high court that the state publicly claimed it owned Porretto Beach, then later admitted it didn’t, but not before quashing several offers on the property....
