Chemical Co. Inks Deal To Exit Paint Pigment Cartel Suit

Law360, New York (September 5, 2013, 3:04 PM EDT) -- Cristal USA Inc. has agreed to settle a class action alleging the titanium dioxide manufacturer participated in an industry cartel intended to fix prices on the chemical pigment used in paint and other products, according to court documents filed Thursday in Maryland.

U.S. District Judge Richard D. Bennett stayed the case in light of a settlement reached between Cristal, formerly known as Millennium Inorganic Chemicals, and a class of consumers who claim the scheme caused them to overpay for titanium dioxide products. Details on the settlement...
