Calif. Bill Expanding Paid Family Leave Heads To Gov.

Law360, San Diego (September 9, 2013, 6:59 PM EDT) -- California lawmakers on Friday sent the governor a measure that would expand California’s Paid Family Leave program to allow workers to receive benefits while caring for ailing siblings, grandparents, grandchildren and parents-in-law.

SB770 — carried by state Sen. Hannah-Beth Jackson, D-Santa Barbara — cleared the state Assembly floor on Wednesday on a 51-22 vote. The state Senate floor, which had already passed the bill in May, signed off on amendments to the bill on Friday on a 26-11 vote along party lines.
