Obama Taps Justice Department National Security Head

Law360, New York (September 11, 2013, 2:45 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama on Tuesday tapped the acting head of the U.S. Department of Justice's National Security Division, John P. Carlin, to head the division permanently, the White House said.

The announcement comes months after Carlin assumed the post on an acting basis in March, replacing former division head Lisa Monaco, who left to become the deputy national security adviser for homeland security and counterterrorism.

And his nomination crowns a career spent exclusively in public service.
