L-3 Unit Counters Ex-Worker's FCA Suit With IP Claims

Law360, New York (September 12, 2013, 2:25 PM EDT) -- An L-3 Communications Holdings Inc. unit on Wednesday lodged counterclaims in a former employee's False Claims Act suit over allegedly fraudulent billing practices, claiming the relator breached his employment contract by stealing trade secrets when he left the company.

Wilmington, Mass.-based L-3 Communications SSG-Tinsley Inc. claims that prior to his departure from the contractor, former financial planning and analysis manager Robert F. Lafond copied 6.8 gigabytes of its confidential information, or approximately 14,000 documents, in violation of his proprietary information agreement.
