NYC Panel Greenlights Giant Staten Island Ferris Wheel

Law360, New York (September 12, 2013, 6:29 PM EDT) -- New York's City Planning Commission on Wednesday approved the construction of a 625-foot Ferris wheel and a 340,000-square-foot outlet mall to be built by BFC Partners' Empire Outlets on Staten Island, moving the first-of-its-kind project one step closer to breaking ground.

The development, which will also include a 200-room, 130,000-square-foot hotel on Staten Island's North Shore, has received support from the local community board and Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro.
