AMR Bankruptcy Plan Gets Nod, But Merger Still Uncertain

Law360, New York (September 12, 2013, 1:14 PM EDT) -- AMR Corp. on Thursday received a bankruptcy judge’s approval of its reorganization plan that hinges on a now uncertain $11 billion merger with US Airways Group Inc., despite a lawsuit brought by federal antitrust regulators that threatens to block the deal.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Sean H. Lane’s approval of the plan does not allow the merger to go into effect, and if the Washington federal court overseeing the antitrust litigation chooses to block the merger, AMR will return to bankruptcy court to determine its next step....
