DOD Says 5 States In Running To Site Potential Missile Shield

Law360, New York (September 12, 2013, 6:12 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Defense on Thursday said it had selected five states as potential candidates for the construction of missile defense sites that would protect the U.S. against intercontinental ballistic missile attacks.

Military bases in New York, Maine, Vermont, Ohio and Michigan are on the DOD shortlist for so-called ground-based interceptors, the Defense Department said in a statement on Thursday.
