Battery Price-Fixing Conspiracy 'Implausible,' Sony Says

Law360, New York (September 17, 2013, 6:13 PM EDT) -- Sony Corp. asked a California federal judge Monday to toss the antitrust claims against it in multidistrict litigation alleging the company was involved in a scheme to fix the prices of lithium ion batteries, saying the direct and indirect purchasers' suits presented a far-fetched conspiracy backed up by scant evidence.

The buyers allege in their consolidated suits that Sony cooperated with rivals for more than a decade. Sony, however, said the plot described was "inherently implausible" considering Sony's share of the global market for lithium ion...
