Wackenhut Firefighters Can Arbitrate OT Row As Class

Law360, New York (September 18, 2013, 3:36 PM EDT) -- Security contractor Wackenhut Services Inc. failed Wednesday to persuade a Washington, D.C., federal judge to toss an arbitrator’s decision to allow current and former Wackenhut firefighters to arbitrate their overtime pay claims against the firm as a class rather than individually.

U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg denied Wackenhut’s motion to vacate the panel’s decision, noting the irony of its request for the federal court to upend the arbitration decision after it got the dispute moved from the court to arbitration in the first place....
