DOD To Review Base Security In Wake Of Navy Shooting

Law360, New York (September 18, 2013, 10:32 PM EDT) -- In response to the Navy Yard shooting that left 13 dead, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel on Wednesday ordered a wide-ranging rethink of security at Department of Defense locations, including a review of physical security at DOD facilities and a review of contractor security clearances.

Both reviews will be headed by Deputy Defense Secretary Ash Carter and supplemented by an independent panel that reports directly to Hagel, as well as a separate Navy review led by Navy Secretary Ray Mabus, the defense secretary said at a Wednesday...
