Wells Fargo, Assurant Hit With Force-Placed Action

Law360, New York (September 19, 2013, 4:26 PM EDT) -- Wells Fargo Bank NA and Assurant Inc. were hit with a pending class action in Florida federal court Wednesday for allegedly forcing expensive hazard insurance on homebuyers who didn't need it.

Lead plaintiff Delbert Kuehner accused Wells Fargo of forcing customers to pay for Assurant policies at inflated prices for the purpose of enriching the bank and insurer, even when borrowers already had other policies. He has requested a jury trial.
