LG, Sears Falsely Marketed Defective Washers, Suit Says

Law360, New York (September 20, 2013, 1:49 PM EDT) -- LG Electronics USA Inc. and Sears Holdings Corp. were hit Thursday with a proposed class action accusing them of making and selling defective washing machines that would fall apart at high speeds, negating many of their advertised uses.

Plaintiff Laury Smith alleged the companies misrepresented the functionality of the top-loading washers by labeling and advertising them as “high efficiency” machines featuring “extra high” spin speeds of 1,050 to 1,100 revolutions per minute.
