8th Circ. Affirms NFL Players Union Win Over Retirees

Law360, Los Angeles (September 23, 2013, 4:22 PM EDT) -- The Eighth Circuit on Monday affirmed a district court’s ruling dismissing a $150 million lawsuit brought by a proposed class of retired National Football League players who said the players union and active players sold them out in collective bargaining agreement negotiations.

The suit, brought by 28 former players including NFL Hall of Famers Carl Eller, Charley Taylor and Larry Little, alleged that active players’ settlement of a lockout dispute interfered with retirees’ ability to achieve a favorable settlement on their own claims. Monday's decision comes...
