Air Force Academy OK'd Improper Contracts, Pentagon Says

Law360, New York (September 24, 2013, 1:11 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Air Force Academy in recent years has inappropriately inked $387,000 in contracts using monetary gifts that weren't properly authorized, says a report issued Monday by the U.S. Department of Defense's Office of the Inspector General.

OIG says the gift fund contracts, which were used to fund teaching, an oral history center and other projects, didn't follow standards created by the Government Accountability Office and the Federal Acquisition Regulation because Air Force Academy officials were unaware of the standards and thought the Academy's own rules...
