DOJ Should Block Anti-Competitive Radio Merger: AAI

Law360, New York (February 19, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The American Antitrust Institute has asked the U.S. Department of Justice to block the proposed merger of XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. and Sirius Satellite Radio, citing concerns over competition in the satellite radio industry.

The institute issued a statement Tuesday urging the DOJ's Antitrust Division to lodge a complaint under Section 7 of the Clayton Act and seek an injunction against the merger. The institute said the DOJ should take these steps to prevent a monopoly in the satellite radio market.
