DHS Says Contracts May Be Canceled If Shutdown Occurs

Law360, New York (September 27, 2013, 12:46 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security on Thursday warned contractors that existing contracts may be terminated or scaled back if the government shuts down Tuesday, as partisan gridlock on Capitol Hill appears to make the scenario more likely.

The chief procurement officer for the DHS, Nick Nayak, said if a budget for fiscal year 2014 is not enacted, it may result in a lapse in funds designated to purchase supplies and services as well as a reduction in the government’s ability to administer DHS contracts. ...
