Furloughs Shut Down GAO, But CFC Stays Open

Law360, New York (October 1, 2013, 4:43 PM EDT) -- Bid protests and contract disputes will face some interruption during the government shutdown that began Tuesday, with the U.S. Government Accountability Office closing its doors, although the Court of Federal Claims and the boards of contract appeals remain open.

The government entered the fiscal year with no new appropriations authority, following the failure of a gambit by House Republicans that would have tied any new funding measures to a one-year delay in the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
