Latham Reps Monsanto In $930M Deal For Analytics Firm

Law360, New York (October 2, 2013, 10:52 AM EDT) -- Monsanto Co., the world's biggest seed company, on Tuesday said it would fork over $930 million for a venture-backed analytics and risk-management firm whose agriculture-focused data will provide farmers scientific insight on factors that influence crop quality and yields.

In addition to helping farmers boost their output, the purchase of closely held Climate Corp. also gives Monsanto a slice of a fast-emerging data market.
