SIGAR Still Running Despite Gov't Shutdown

Law360, New York (October 3, 2013, 6:46 PM EDT) -- The government shutdown has closed the offices of most of the inspectors general and contract oversight agencies with some exceptions, like the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, which is funded through multiyear appropriations.

So far, the funding lapse has closed down the U.S. Department of Defense's OIG, the U.S. Department of the Interior's OIG and the White House Office of Special Counsel, which fields whistleblower complaints about waste, fraud and abuse in the federal government.
