Lockheed To Furlough 3,000 Employees Amid Shutdown

Law360, New York (October 4, 2013, 5:18 PM EDT) -- Lockheed Martin Corp. will furlough some 3,000 employees from Oct. 7 because of the government shutdown, the defense contracting giant said Friday, adding that it may ask more employees to halt work if the shutdown draws on.

The furlough will affect employees who cannot work because the government facility where they work is closed and those whose work requires a government inspection that cannot take place until the shutdown ends, according to a statement Friday by the Bethesda, Md.-based defense giant.
