Shutdown Is 'Killing' Small Contractors, House Panel Hears

Law360, New York (October 10, 2013, 4:00 PM EDT) -- Advocates for small-business contractors on Thursday pressed lawmakers to end the government shutdown, saying the lapse in funding was far worse for small businesses than the Obama administration's efforts to save money through larger consolidated contracts. 

The House Small Business Subcommittee on Contracting and Workforce had invited small-business advocates to discuss the ways the government's contract bundling has been a hurdle for small businesses. But the government shutdown, in its 10th day, eclipsed that topic as the No. 1 threat to small-business contractors, witnesses said....
