New York City Opera In Talks Over Merger Possibility

Law360, New York (October 10, 2013, 5:57 PM EDT) -- New York City Opera Inc. is engaged in talks that could result in a potential merger, an attorney told the bankruptcy judge overseeing the iconic institution’s Chapter 11 proceedings Thursday.

Though nothing is set in stone and the likelihood of winding down is still strong, Kenneth Rosen of Lowenstein Sandler LLP said there is some interest in “preserving” some parts of the opera, which sought bankruptcy protection last week.

He mentioned a “potential suitor,” “potential partner” and “potential merger candidate,” but did not offer any names....
