Frito-Lay Denies Misleading Consumers About GMOs

Law360, New York (October 15, 2013, 6:30 PM EDT) -- Frito-Lay North America Inc. on Thursday denied allegations that it misled consumers by labeling foods with genetically modified organisms as “all natural,” saying in response to a class action filed in New York that federal law preempts the false labeling claims.

Frito-Lay denied liability in a lawsuit against it and its parent company PepsiCo Inc. that targets labeling for Tostitos tortilla chips, SunChips and Fritos Bean Dip. Frito-Lay disputed that the labeling was deceptive or misleading to consumers in response to several state law claims....
