Ark. High Court Certifies Classes In Hotel Web Deals Row

Law360, Los Angeles (October 10, 2013, 6:33 PM EDT) -- The Arkansas Supreme Court approved on Thursday certification for classes of tax-collecting entities in a lawsuit accusing LP, Hotwire Inc. and other online travel companies of not paying the full taxes owed on hotel room deals, finding the classes had met a predominance requirement.

Upholding a lower court's order granting class certification in February, Associate Justice Paul E. Danielson agreed with Arkansas counties and cities that they provided enough evidence showing their tax ordinances were similarly worded and that the travel companies' potential wrongdoing affected...
