"iPod Economy" Touches Off Patent Brawls

Law360, New York (December 16, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- Patent infringement lawsuits over digital music device iPod have now roped in companies that manufacture its accessories, with small technology companies hoping to win big off iPod’s market share.

The accessory industry, dubbed "the iPod economy" by Apple chief executive officer Steve Jobs, has played off of iPod’s popularity, and is now playing out its patent battles as well.
