Public Hospitals Exempt From NY Labor Laws, Judge Finds

Law360, New York (October 17, 2013, 7:22 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge on Wednesday gutted a proposed class action accusing New York City Health & Hospitals Corp. of failing to pay police officers for gap time and overtime, ruling that the hospital system is a state “political subdivision” and therefore exempt from state labor laws.
