Film Studios Vanquish IsoHunt In $110M Copyright Deal

Law360, New York (October 17, 2013, 3:26 PM EDT) -- Major BitTorrent search engine isoHunt Web Technologies Inc. will pay $110 million and shutter its operations after reaching a settlement Thursday in a huge copyright infringement lawsuit brought by the major film studios.

The settlement, announced by the Motion Picture Association of America, ends more than seven years of litigation between the studios and isoHunt and site founder Gary Fung, and comes just over six months after the Ninth Circuit ruled that the site had intentionally induced users into infringing the studios' copyrights.
