Texas High Court Won't Revive $17M Drilling Ban Award

Law360, Houston (October 18, 2013, 5:33 PM EDT) -- The Texas Supreme Court declined Friday to revive a landowner group's $17 million judgment against the city of Houston that was overturned last year after an appeals court found that environmental concerns justified restrictions against oil and gas development near Lake Houston.

Without comment, the high court refused to consider Trail Enterprises Inc.'s complaint that the Fourteenth District Court of Appeals ignored constitutional protections against governmental "takings" of private property when it ruled that the need to protect the lake as a source of drinking water...
