TV One Beats Infringement Claims Over Restaurant Show

Law360, Los Angeles (October 23, 2013, 9:10 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Tuesday dismissed copyright infringement claims in a suit that accused TV One LLC of intentionally plagiarizing a show in order to create its own restaurant-themed program, “Belle's,” ruling the works are not substantially similar.

U.S. District Judge George H. Wu determined that "Belle's" and Goodness Films LLC's proposed show about the Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles chain don't have plot elements, themes or characters comparable enough to establish copyright violations.
