Infomercial Star Remains Jailed For Now In FTC Feud

Law360, Chicago (October 24, 2013, 5:19 PM EDT) -- Two days after being jailed for contempt, infomercial salesman Kevin Trudeau unsuccessfully lobbied an Illinois federal judge to release him on Thursday, claiming he can’t prove from behind bars that he has no more assets to pay a $37.6 million Federal Trade Commission judgment.

U.S. District Judge Robert W. Gettleman — who jailed Trudeau on Tuesday to compel him to disclose assets the government believes he is hiding — denied the TV pitchman’s bid for release at a court hearing in Chicago.
