Mexico Bans Slots, Toughens Up On Casino License Holders

Law360, New York (October 24, 2013, 7:04 PM EDT) -- Mexican officials announced on Thursday several changes to the country's gambling laws, which included banning slot machines and blocking casino license holders from lending their rights to third parties.

The amendments to the federal gambling law were laid out in a decree from President Enrique Pena Nieto published in the Official Gazette of the Federation and come about two months after Mexico's secretary of the interior said he was meeting with members of other federal agencies to update the 1947 gambling law.
