Madoff Books 'Ridiculous,' Government Witness Says

Law360, New York (October 28, 2013, 7:28 PM EDT) -- The books at Bernard Madoff’s securities firm often contained ‘ridiculous’ numbers that bore little relation to reality, a government expert testified Monday in the trial of five former Madoff employees accused of involvement in Madoff’s Ponzi scheme.

Trading records kept at Madoff’s firm showed a slough of trades that could not possibly have been made, said forensic accountant Bruce Dubinsky, who audited the books at Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC, or BLMIS, after the firm’s collapse.
