Honda Beats Suit Over Defective Gold Wing Motorcycles

Law360, New York (October 29, 2013, 1:33 PM EDT) -- A Florida federal judge on Monday tossed a proposed class action accusing American Honda Motor Co. Inc. of deceptively marketing defective Gold Wing touring motorcycles that can allegedly accidentally shift gears on their own, finding the only damages are economic losses.

U.S. District Judge Cecilia Altonaga said Florida's economic loss rule is a judicially created doctrine that sets forth the circumstances under which a tort action is prohibited if the only damages suffered are economic losses, and that in this case, the rule applies.
