Red Lobster Server Sues Over Overtime, Side Work

Law360, New York (October 29, 2013, 4:36 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania Red Lobster server on Monday filed a putative class action against the chain's owner, Darden Restaurants Inc, alleging the chain pays its employees tip wages for nontipped tasks and denies them overtime.

Xenia Krylyuk said that Darden, which owns Red Lobster, Olive Garden and Longhorn Steakhouse, among others, pays employees below the state minimum for tipped work, which is in turn much lower than the state minimum for untipped work.
