Belgian Man Denies Violating Nuclear Export Controls

Law360, Chicago (October 31, 2013, 3:38 PM EDT) -- A Belgian businessman pled not guilty Thursday in Illinois federal court to charges that he attempted to evade nuclear nonproliferation export controls by shipping aluminum tubes to a Malaysian front company for an individual in Iran.

Nicholas Kaiga, 36, who has been in federal custody since June, was indicted last week on one count of violating the International Emergency Economic Powers Act and two counts of making false statements on U.S. export forms. He denied the charges at his arraignment Thursday in Chicago.
