Fla. Asks State High Court To Deny Mayor's Corruption Appeal

Law360, Miami (October 31, 2013, 2:59 PM EDT) -- Florida state prosecutors on Tuesday asked the state Supreme Court to reject Tamarac Mayor Beth Flansbaum-Talabisco's appeal of a ruling that reinstated corruption charges accusing her of receiving financial benefits from real estate developers during her 2006 campaign in exchange for her vote on a project.

The state attorney general said that because Flansbaum-Talabisco's mayoral position is not a constitutional or state officer, the Florida Supreme Court does not have jurisdiction in the case.
