Amazon Sales Taxes Now Reach Majority of Americans

Law360, New York (November 1, 2013, 7:06 PM EDT) -- Friday marks the first day that a majority of Americans must pay sales taxes on purchases from online behemoth Amazon.com Inc., as measures take effect in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Wisconsin.

With the trio joining the ranks of sales tax collectors, 163 million Americans in 16 states now pay taxes on Amazon purchases, just in time for the holidays.
