DOJ Pressing For Divestitures From American, US Airways

Law360, New York (November 4, 2013, 5:36 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Justice is pushing for a settlement of its antitrust suit to block the American Airlines Inc. and US Airways Group Inc. merger that would require the carriers to divest facilities at certain airports nationwide, Attorney General Eric Holder said during a press conference Monday morning.

Holder confirmed that the DOJ — which sued to block the merger in August, saying it would have anti-competitive effects — wanted the airlines to renounce takeoff and landing slots at "key constrained airports" across the country...
