BlackBerry Sues Cypress Over Wireless, Charging Patents

Law360, New York (November 5, 2013, 3:56 PM EST) -- BlackBerry Ltd. on Monday hit Cypress Semiconductor Corp. with a lawsuit in Texas federal court alleging the Silicon Valley electronics company has infringed on a pair of its patents covering wireless transceiver technology and battery-charging controllers.

The Canadian wireless giant alleges San Jose, Calif.-based Cypress had willfully infringed the patents by employing BlackBerry's proprietary technology in the sale of its radio system-on-chip products and battery-charging controllers that maximize the power efficiency of electronic products.
