Texas Appeals Court Won't Revisit BP's $3.9M Lease Win

Law360, Dallas (November 8, 2013, 3:32 PM EST) -- A Texas appeals court on Thursday upheld BP America Production Co.'s victory in an oil-and-gas lease dispute, denying a group of mineral rights owners' requests to rehear its abandonment of a $3.9 million verdict in their favor.

The Fourth District Court of Appeals in August held BP had correctly interpreted a disputed bonus payment under an oil-and-gas lease in Webb County, finding the company did not owe a group of mineral rights owners an additional $450 per acre payment under a most-favored nations clause. The court...
