BlackBerry, Nokia, ZTE Sued Over Mobile Hotspot Patent

Law360, New York (November 12, 2013, 5:53 PM EST) -- SecureNova LLC hit BlackBerry Ltd., ZTE Corp. and Nokia Corp. with suits Friday in Texas federal court over certain smartphones' alleged infringement of a patent for wireless hotspots.

In three nearly identical complaints, Plano, Texas-based SecureNova alleged that the tech giants' mobile hotspot devices — for example, Nokia's Lumia 1020, BlackBerry's Z10 and ZTE's Avid 4G — infringe a patent that enables secondary communications devices to operate as wireless hubs.
