Jury Finds Infomercial Star Trudeau Guilty Of Contempt

Law360, Chicago (November 12, 2013, 8:05 PM EST) -- An Illinois federal jury on Tuesday found infomercial salesman Kevin Trudeau guilty of criminal contempt for flouting a prior court order by making spurious claims about his weight loss book on TV.

After just an hour of deliberations in Chicago, the 12-member jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict against Trudeau, 50, who was immediately taken into custody despite his attorney’s plea that he should remain free on bond because he is not a flight risk.
