Scores Of Policyholders Sue NYPIUA Over Sandy Damage

Law360, New York (November 12, 2013, 6:14 PM EST) -- New York Properties Insurance Underwriting Association has been hit with a lawsuit in New York state court by more than 100 property owners alleging breach of contract for the company's failure to cover damage caused by Superstorm Sandy.

The Oct. 29 complaint claims NYPIUA sold the plaintiffs insurance policies covering losses to their dwellings and personal properties, policies that were in full force and effect when Sandy hit New York City exactly one year earlier. The plaintiffs say that they paid all their premiums on time,...
