Employers Leery As States Mull Workplace Bullying Bills

Law360, New York (November 19, 2013, 8:03 PM EST) -- With New York and other states considering legislation prohibiting workplace bullying, proponents say the enactment of laws banning on-the-job bullying is not just likely, but long overdue. Management-side lawyers, however, warn that the bills proposed so far will lead to baseless lawsuits over trivial slights. 

Since California introduced a workplace bullying bill in 2003, legislators in 24 other states have followed suit, and there are currently 11 states where such bills are active, according to the Healthy Workplace Campaign, a group that advocates for anti-workplace-bullying laws....
