Tom Hanks' Insurance Broker Gets 2 Years For Fraud
Law360, New York (November 15, 2013, 2:34 PM EST) -- A Southern California insurance agent was sentenced Friday to 27 months in prison and ordered to pay over $800,000 in restitution for bilking high-profile clients including actors Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson and rock musician Andy Summers.
U.S. District Judge James Otero sentenced Jerry B. Goldman to serve the time concurrently with three years of supervised release after prison in addition to paying the victims restitution. The judge waived all fines in the case saying that Goldman was unable to pay both the restitution and fines.
In April, Goldman, agreed to plead guilty on three felony mail fraud charges...
