1-800 Contacts Agrees To Pay $11.7M In Call-Recording Suit

Law360, New York (November 19, 2013, 5:01 PM EST) -- A class of plaintiffs on Monday asked a California federal judge to approve 1-800 Contacts Inc.’s proposed $11.7 million settlement that would resolve a suit alleging the company secretly recorded telephone calls with consumers.

Plaintiff Robert Reed alleged that in the year prior to the filing of his August 2012 complaint, he had at least one telephone communication with 1-800 Contacts representatives in which he provided confidential financial information.
