ISPs Can Be Ordered To Ban Pirate Sites, EU Adviser Says

Law360, New York (November 26, 2013, 4:19 PM EST) -- A chief legal adviser to the Europe Union's highest appeals court said Tuesday that EU law allowed for court injunctions that require Internet service providers to block subscriber access to pirate websites.

Weighing in on a case filed by two movie companies against an Austrian ISP, Advocate General Cruz Villalon told the Court of Justice of the European Union that service providers could be hit with injunctions for providing access to an illegal site.
