Jimmy Johns Served With Wage Suit By Delivery Drivers

By Igor Kossov (November 27, 2013, 6:20 PM EST) -- A class of 300 delivery drivers sued Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwich franchise operator Bushwood Investments LLC in Kansas federal court Wednesday, alleging the company's failure to compensate them for work expenses in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Kansas Wage Payment Act.

The drivers said that Bushwood makes them pay their own vehicle insurance and maintenance, on-the-clock phone use, GPS and other necessities. The company doesn't distinguish between trip lengths and takes other measures that cut into earnings, the drivers said, alleging that they were paid effectively below minimum wage for their services.
